A large segment of the population love to "dance" and what a great workout it can be. For those who love to move to music, dance is their favourite way of "working out". Dance offers both "aerobic" and "anerobic" training. For ballet dancers their muscles are used primarily "eccentrically", meaning they lengthen while working rather than shortening, thus long slender muscles develop, that are incredibly strong.
Not for just children and teens, adults continue to dance from childhood to feed their passion. Be it socially at the club, or in a class setting, dancing for an hour or more is fun, exhilarating, and lifts your mood!
Dancers love to move to the rhythm and "soul" of a song, while doing complex coordinations. They may find running around a track at school "boring" and can't wait to get to dance class.
Of interest is that dancers may not like sports, so turn to dance training for a workout. Core is challenged, balance, agility, muscle strength and endurance.
People have long danced and I encourage all dancers out there to jump onboard!!
At 72 I still dance and teach 5 days a week. It will always be my passion and I look forward to sharing more information about the benefits of dance!
