Collingwood ladies, are you struggling with weight management during perimenopause? I understand how challenging this stage can be, and the first step is understanding why weight can be hard to manage during this phase of life. So here is a very simplified version of what’s happening in your body, keeping in mind that every body is unique.

1. Hormonal Shifts: As ovarian hormone production declines, fat redistributes itself to the abdomen and hips. Why? Adipose tissue (fat) helps with hormone production, and the body produces more fat to compensate for the loss of hormones.
2. Muscle Loss and Less Movement: As we age, we naturally lose muscle (which burns more calories than fat) and often move less. This combination slows our metabolism and makes it harder to burn energy effectively.
3. Sleep Struggles and Stress: Menopause often disrupts sleep, and lack of rest can lead to poor energy levels, increased appetite, and difficulty making healthy choices. Add stress, and you’ve got a perfect storm for weight gain.

Are you facing any challenges with perimenopause/menopause weight gain?
